ASCO Unveils 2024-2027 Strategic Plan

May 23, 2024

The refreshed plan outlines priorities to develop our team,
drive system leadership and advance clinical and operational excellence.

Aurora, ON — (May 23, 2024) — Today marks a significant milestone as Addiction Services Central Ontario (ASCO) proudly unveils its new strategic plan Offering Hope and Promoting Well-Being: Strategic Plan 2024-2027. The three-year plan aims to set ASCO up for long-term success and continue its mission of uniting to support individuals to achieve their goals by offering hope and promoting well-being.

“I am proud to share a Strategic Plan that was created by and for the ASCO community,” said Penny Marrett, Executive Director of Addiction Services Central Ontario. “For more than four decades, ASCO has grown to become one of the largest providers of community addiction programs and services in Ontario. This strategic planning process offered an opportunity to reflect on our growth and consider the dual emergencies of a toxic drug supply and a global pandemic. By proactively envisioning the future, our Plan acknowledges the post-pandemic realities and will serve as a roadmap by creating innovative and sustainable programs and services over the next three years and beyond.”

Engaging with the ASCO community was fundamental to the development of a refreshed Strategic Plan. Through a combination of focus groups, interviews, and surveys, ASCO engaged over 165 individuals, exploring what they believe ASCO should prioritize in the years ahead to enable sustainable success.

Discussions with clients, staff, stakeholders, and partners led to three Strategic Priorities:

  1. Develop our People
  2. Drive System Leadership in Integrated Care
  3. Advance Clinical and Operational Excellence

The refreshed Strategic Plan stands as a testament to the invaluable time, perspectives, and ideas generously shared by ASCO’s community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all for their invaluable contributions.

This plan was made possible by the funding received from the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund. The fund acknowledges the vital role of community service organizations in Canada and provides generous support for initiatives to adapt and modernize their operations, enabling them to expand their support in communities.
